Planned Giving

The principal source of income to a parish is received through its Sunday church collection. It is vital therefore that a parish reviews its planned giving programme on a regular basis.

The Diocesan Norms requires Parish Finance Committees to establish planned giving programmes and to renew its programme at least once every three years.

At the May 2006 Finance Management seminar, a “template” for planned giving renewal was presented. The template is based on actual parish experience. St Thomas More Parish in Glenfield launched a new planned giving programme in 2005 with notable success – planned giving at St Thomas More Parish increased 25% on previous levels. The slides presented at the seminar are attached. The slides summarise the key points on the recommended “template” for parishes to use in their planned giving renewal.

At the May 2008 seminar, an approach to Planned Support as used by St Michael’s Parish, Remuera was presented by Pat de Zoete. The slides from the presentation are attached, along with documents from St Michael’s Parish:

  1. Parish Information booklet
  2. Parish Welcome leaflet
  3. Guide to our Parish Church
